Kobe died.
My brother-in-law sent a group text on January 26th asking, "Is Kobe dead?" I hopped on Twitter and quickly came across a headline that Kobe Bryant and others were killed in a horrific helicopter accident in Calabasas. I know those hill along that stretch of the freeway. The copter was en route to a basketball tournament in Thousand Oaks... the city where I was born. The worst was eventually confirmed... Kobe, along with his 13-year-old daughter Gigi and 7 others, were dead.
Even as I type those words today it still doesn't feel real. It's really hard to put into words how I feel about this tragedy. Feels almost ridiculous trying to recount the last couple of weeks now. But I'm still sad about this. Devastated really.
